Kinja'd!!!

Heading out to lunch today, I spotted a little badge on this here Jeep Renegade parked at work. Then I remembered this is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , quite possibly one of the dumbest special edition vehicles ever.

You can read my overly-detailed review of all of the ridiculousness that is Batman v Superman !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but basically, at the beginning of the movie, during the big fight from the end of Man of Steel , Bruce Wayne flies a helicopter from Gotham to Metropolis, which are now directly across a bay from each other unlike in every other version of the DC comics continuity including Man of Steel , and gets in a security guard’s Jeep Renegade with a little yellow flashy light on top of it, then drives very aggressively into downtown Metropolis, dodging debris everywhere!

Kinja'd!!!

Right as Batfleck gets to the center of downtown Metropolis, Superman and/or General Zod destroys the Wayne Enterprises building, which kills lots of employees, including this nice older dude who Batfleck was trying to talk to on the phone and tell to GET EVERYONE OUT OF THE BUILDING, but he didn’t make it in time and this makes Batfleck sad. He cares about his employees, because he’s a good boss. He should go on Undercover Boss.

Batman v Superman exists in a particular alternate universe where every passenger vehicle is made by FCA except Lex Luthor has a Bentley or Rolls-Royce. I don’t care enough to look up which one it was. And I guess the Batmobile is also not made by FCA, or was it?

So to tie in with this FCA product placement, we get the Jeep Renegade “Dawn of Justice” Special Edition, which according to the Jeep website, gets you this:

Inspired by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , the new 2016 Jeep ® Renegade “Dawn of Justice” Special Edition is where mysterious darkness meets unexpected adventure. Experience high-tech details, sophisticated interior accents and the thrill of superior Jeep capability in one daring ready-for-action package.

(Yellow flashy light like the movie not included.)

I also don’t care enough to look up the specs and tell you what particular details differentiate the Jeep Renegade “Dawn of Justice” Special Edition, but it exists, and someone who works at my office building bought one. I do know it has this badge. I bet they really like that badge.

Kinja'd!!!

But what I really want to know is: did the one in the movie with the yellow flashy light on it also have this badge?

Eh, not as bad as the Call of Duty Wranglers.

But seriously, Jeep, you’re supposed to be a universally lovable brand. Why do you do this to yourself?

There’s one of those in the town where I live. Didn’t even get the MySky roof, which, IMO, is the best toy on Meepster.

*edit*

That said, I wouldn’t mind those rims tho.

You probably know more about this special edition than the person who owns it. Sounds like the product placement worked if you think about all that every time you see a certain Remegade.

But this is the only time I’ve seen this type of Renegade, and the only reason I know so much about it is because I’m the type of car and movie product placement nerd who would notice such things. Not because this is particularly successful movie product placement.

I’m choosing to believe that it was the only one on the lot with the options the buyer wanted, and the dealer offered a lot of money off. Or, the driver works for FCA or an FCA dealer and is using it as a courtesy car. Those are the only reasonable options for why someone would drive one.
